I get the yellow ! at the Primary IDE Controller, I also get the Yellow ! at my Adaptec AIC-7850 PCI SCSI Controller Card. I remove the Card, I thought that my elimated the conflict at the IDE, it did not. If I go to Add Hardware, then remove the SCSI card and then reinstall, and then reboot, I get you must restart the machine, each time I reboot. Appreciate any help, thanks

go to this Microsoft web page it will help to eliminate the yellow ! for the IDE controllers the scsi issue is probably from incorrect drivers or a installer error

I just fought with mine and you dont need MS's bs help. all that you need to do is delete the driver and reload it. That will tell you if it is software or hardware. You do this by going into system in my computer. Then click on the device manager tab and then expand the part of the tree that says HD controllers. Then delete the last entry of the three that appear and restart windows. If it is indeed software then Windows will find it again when you restart and will either find the old driver which will reload and work properly or ask for the windows disk. either way it is fixed

I'm have conflict report's in win 98 2nd

I found this lovley bit of info regarding VIA chipset weirdness (also using AMD Athalon CPU, not Intel)- I too was fine until futzing with another issue unrelated to bus mastering (setting up VPN tunnel)- This download is an all-in-one updater for all VIA chips:

: I installed a new motherboard and Win98. After wards I used the IDE Drivers CDrom for the motherboard and installed the VIA Bus Master driver. I ended up with old win98 drivers and the new VIA drivers in the Hard Disk. What drivers should I have in the HARD Disk section of the Device Manager?
I went to Via's Web Site for their latestest and greatest Via 4in1
Under Device Mgr. (Hard Disk Controllers)I get :
Primary IDE Controller (dual fifo) by Microsoft
Secondary IDE Controller (dual fifo) by Microsoft
VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Controller using :
1) VMM32.VXD
2) ATAPIVXD by VIA ver. 1.04I think the above is what you shoud see.
You can call tech support (your nickel) 510-440-8808
Driver update for MVP3 at www.via.com.tw/drivers/index.htmLet me know if this helps: franklin@csolve.net.
I'm on too many mailing lists to publish it above.
