Hi All, I have just bought a Cannon BJC 1000 printer to replace my old Dot Matrix. Installed it fine but now I find it prints just one line of a document per page! Phoned Cannon support line & was told that I need to install an 'Ec port?' to enable the printer to work correctly. They informed me that I would have to phone Microsoft support to talk me throught doing this procedure. Obviously I am reluctant to do this as the waiting time to get throught to microsoft is awful. Can anyone out there explain the principle of installing this 'ec port' before I throw this damm printer out of the window! Any help would be appreciated! Cheers! Dave

Hey Dave, Sorry to hear about your luck. I'm afraid to tell you that Canon is wrong. What they are refering to is a "ECP" port. There is also a "EPP" port. Either one of these will allow your printer to work. This is a hardware option and not something inside of Windows. You will need to get into your Bios to see if you have this option. I would say by the age of the computer that you don't. Look anyway I maybe wrong. Canon would be the ones that would have a workaround in thier software is there is one. Computers for the past several years have all come out with these enhancements. Someone else posting may have a different workaround. HTH, wcr3d
