Can I attach a external usb cd-rw drive to my computer which has a cd-rom? If so, how do I approach this task? My os is Win 95. In doing this, will it cause any conflicts with my computer?

If you follow the instructions that came with cd/rw as far hookin up usb you should be fine. USB is generally "hot-pluggable" meaning you don't have to boot down to plug the new device in and windows should automatically detect it (have the install cd already in the drive)...should be a breeze to install.

Blessings

Let's not forget a major step here folks. What version of win95 are you running? the very first version will NOT support USB. Win 95 OSR-2 and OSR2.5 have limited support for USB. If you have the first version it will not work. If you have one of the second versions it may work but don't be too surprized if you have problems.

Kurt is absolutely correct.
Furthermore, a USB CD-R?
Sigh...

Good luck pal, I'd have gotten a SCSI.
