Have Infinia 7202 and want to replace CD Drive which is ATAPI. I don't know what ATAPI means? Do I have to replace with another ATAPI CD Drive or can I use any IDE CD Drive? If either, which is easiest considering software involved and what do you suggest? Thanks.
Howdy, Don't get to caught up in the computer talk. ATAPI and EIDE are basicly the same thing. If you go out and buy any new EIDE CD-ROM it is going to be ATAPI compliant, it basicly just means you have to set the jumper on the drive to tell the system where it belongs as in a master or a slave just like hard drives. So as long as the drive is EIDE or IDE as it is mistakenly called you have nothing to worry about besides maybe setting the jumper to master or slave, just take note of what you're current one is set at and install the new as the same.
