Cold booting Windows 8 and no USB Keyboard/Mouse usable. So I booted again using the Repair CD, and from there boot to Windows 8 without any problem. There must be a way to initialize the booting to correct this problem of no USB Keyboard/Mouse, but how?
Look in BIOS Setup. Where it says "halt on all errors" see if you can exclude mouse and keyboard.
Is your keyboard/mouse combination bluetooth based wireless ? If so, check Services for the startup type for bluetooth service ? It should be set to automatic. Also check while you are there the Human Device Interface service should be started. CoolGuy
Do the Keyboard work at the BIOS level? If so, good. Now go into Control panel / device manager and see what's happening.
