Specs: Windows 8, Intel core i5/2.5ghz/4gb

When I plug in brand new sandisk cruzer blade it takes ages to show in my computer, then when I try to open it, it hangs until I get the message - computer(not responding), it works perfectly well in my old computer running windows xp.

Derek,
Sandisk have solved the problem!!!!!
Its because I have the Samsung Kies program on the computer!
Now that I`ve disabled it both sandisks work!
I am sure lots of people will be puzzled by this because it certainly isn`t something I`d have thought of.
Many thanks for your help.
Frank

If there is nothing important on it try the right click format option (I assume this is available in Win8). Sometimes I've found that with later operating systems flash drives seem to want to be formatted there.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Also, make sure there is no autorun.inf file on it. Sometimes the autorun file will try to run when you plug in a flash drive. If the program is not compatable with your OS, it will hang.

no auto run file on either sandisk.

cannot try formatting because once the driver is left or right clicked on it hangs until
computer goes into Not Responding mode!

Rather baffling.

Maybe it would work if you format it first on your XP.
You would obviously have to first save any files you have on it.

Do other flash drives work on your Win8 ?

This gets more boggling by the minute.
I formatted the sandisk on my old xp and when I plugged it into the new computer it appeared to read it and showed it correctly as empty. I then copied some photos from my old computer and tried it again in my new one and it hangs for ages and then shows as empty!
I have an old sandisk which is also doing the same thing, but when I reformatted it and put documents only on it (no photos) my new computer read it, I then moved photos direct from my camera via my new pc to the sandisk and when I tried to open it it again failed!
I have an old 2gb vodaphone stick which has a mix of photos and documents on it and my new pc reads it ok???????

Wow, that's a new one on me too. Maybe Samsung Kies screws up the USB's in some way. Thanks for the very useful feedback and glad to hear you are OK now.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
