Google Chrome won't save Facebook posts in Jpeg format

May 2, 2013 at 13:17:53
Specs: Windows 8

Eliminated a bunch of cookies, history..etc. Refreshed and many apps such as bittorrent, iTunes, real downloader and others were eliminated thru process. I DID receive a list of "removed apps" (very nice) and continued to re-install newly. Google chrome was RE-enabled after I suffered many difficulties , unable to use it as browser after somehow I deleted it. ONE issue, Google chrome browser does NOT allow me to 'save as' posts off of FB as JPEG. Only as chromefile. No serious issue as I use EXplorer for FB. Any comments? I work off of desktop, even though compu has windows 8. Don't like working thru tiles due to presentation page lay out.

As I don't use either Chrome or FB so I'm not the best one to answer. However, as you are still waiting I did find this:

"Go to Wrench Icon > Options > Under the hood(bonnet) tab scroll down to the download section and click 'Clear auto opening settings".

Most likely you've already tried that.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I find tools ok, But what do you mean by hood/bonnet section downloads? When I go to downloads, I find my downloads with sub caption view in folder/ remove. No where do I see "clear auto opening setting". I just searched in Explorer, and neither did I find "clear auto opening settings". By the way, the 'wrench icon' is on Explorer where Google spells out the word 'tools' on the drop down menu. Thanx for the help. Still searching. Any more ideas. I can continue to use explorer to open up certain programs and google chrome to open up other websites

As I said, I'm not a Chrome user so am just looking at websites. Let's hope a Chrome user joins us. In the meantime I found this:
You should have three sections in the options page

Personal stuff
Under hood (or bonnet, depending on location)

Try typing this into the address bar to go there directly

In USA & Canada it's "hood", in UK it's "bonnet" (language difference).

As for chrome://settings/advanced I guess it is a bit like Firefox - many settings can be accessed or made by typing in the address bar. Somehow I feel there must be a setting for jpg - hope you find it somewhere.

Did Chrome used to produce jpg's before you re-installed it?

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Derek, You are most kind. This is NOT a priority at the moment, however NOT by ANY means, belittling your considerate assistance. I will carry on for the day opening FB (which you are not involved in) in Explorer, and not be overly concerned with "google" settings/advanced, for the time being. I will follow up on your suggestions in a near future. I received an e-mail from "Tom " That I was being ' missed' , so I suggested my option, however NON-priority it is. Have lovely sunday. And many thanx for your input

Chrome is different than firefox. Reality wise, this is NOT a major prob for me. Simply I browse in Explorer for FB. Appreciative of your response, however it seems that we use different browsers and different sites we browse

I use Chrome so I'll see if I can help.

I'm not exactly sure what your asking though, you say you can't save as "posts" as jpg. Posts are text and you can't save text as a picture file. Are you saying it won't let you save pictures from a post?

EXACTLY! I have NOT been able to save silly pics posted in my own "pictures" file.I have reverted back to using explorer, THX 1138. When on Facebook, I often choose to save a nice post for later use into my own downloads .On google, I have NOT been able to save a published post in jpeg form. I now use explorer and have eliminated the inconvenience. Thank you kindly
