I couldn't find anything on KB2434410. Are you sure its not a typo? By any chance Is this update related to your running Windows Live Essential 2011 Beta ?

I stand corrected. WLE 2011 was taken out of Beta testing stage and released to the public September 30 2010. When you tried install WLE 2011 did you get any message with an error code? Without an error code all we can do is guess what have gone wrong.

Error 800706BE - I have just googled KB2434419 & it looks like lots of people have had problems with this, some suggest its a compatibilty problem, which does not mean much unless you know what software is causing the problem.

I noticed that too. In any case, the answer to your question its still showing on Windows update as important - should I ingore it ? is YES. I believe M$ is aware of the problem and is working on it to issue a fix. Until then, stay away from WLM 2011.

The download did not take long, but the install was stuck on update 2 about 3/4 the way through. After about 90 minutes, I just did a CTL-ALT-DLT reboot. Trying to Cancel the Installation button would not work.

The system came back up and it looks like the new whatever it is has been installed althought the install history says that fix failed. I hope I have not messed up my PC.

xrep - I did the same as you but it corrupted Windows Mail, the only part of Essentials I use, I looked on some other forums & lots of users were having the same problem, luckily I was able to restore - its only a recommended update so I will wait.

I received the update notification on 22 October 2010. I installed the update as it was marked as "important". Took an hour or so (154Mb). Opened Windows Live Mail and saw it was in a new format. My Contacts directory was empty! Also I got a message to say my account was locked because somebody tried to sign in with the wrong e-mail address. A new Sign In box came up and each time I completed it it came back again for refilling and confirming with one of those boxes where you have to copy some code.
I gave up. I restored the computer to the time before the update and now all is well.
What are Microsoft up to, sending out corrupt program updates?!!!

When I looked at other forums & saw all the other problems people were having I did a restore straight away - its seems this update loads all the Windows Essentials features instead of just the ones you want & then stalls when it can't find previous versions & ends up corrupting your mail...

maybe it's just me. On both my Vista & Win7 boxes, WLE 2011 update is listed as an optional update in the Windows Update dialogue.

I have no plan to download & install it which is essentially a suite of 11 individual components that M$ press release have touted as "Bringing Together the Power of PCs With Promise of the Cloud" in HERE.

I also understand that installing WLE will replace your Windows Live Toolbar with Bing Bar whether you like it or not.

In the event I find a proven solution to the 800706BE error I will post it here in this thread.

Hi again,

I just wanted to post THIS link posted by the Microsoft Update Team themselves. The link clarifies the reason why WLE 2011 was offered to you as Recommended update and to me as Optional Update.

As for the 800706BE error no solution yet...

Thanks XpUser - I'm not too worried about the error code, as I said earlier it looks like this update tries to load all the featues of Essentials & as I only have Live Mail I'm not worried - thanks for your hekp..
