Ok, I've been out of the industry for a few years but I gotta know: I know Vista, XP right on down the line all the way to dos 1.0 but...Windows 7? What's this about?

C'mon, we won't take the bait. As an IT "Specialist," you should be telling us what it's about :-)

Wow it should be obvious. Windows 7 is Vista's successor. And I think it's going to be a better success than Vista will ever be. Google it.

It's "Vista's sister" as some call it but it's much better.
One would think you'd know about it being an IT specialist. But even if you've "out of the industry for a few years" you should know windows 7 by one of it's code names which is Blackcomb or Vienna.

Windows 7 is the follow up to Windows 6.

Obviously.

I agree with seawtach1 - Windows 7 is an extreme makeover of Vista (Windows 6.x).

With Windows 7 look

HERE for features removed (damn it not the classic Start Menu user interface), and

HERE for New & changed features. Does anyone outside M$ know why M$ rebranded Windows Security Center as Windows Action Center?
