Windows 7 PC keeps looking for TrayApp.msi

November 24, 2010 at 13:05:08
Specs: Windows 7

After I tried getting my printer set up with my Windows 7 computer wirelessly, which didn't work and I thought no big deal, the computer keeps trying to install *something* and can't do it. One of the things it keeps saying is missing is "trayapp.msi" and AOD-something. I have to constantly keep cancelling out its attempts to install and neither my iTunes upgrade nor my system restore are working either--again, both seem to be telling me some file that's needed is missing or that some program is running--that isn't.

sounds like you may have damaged a few files, type sfc \scannow in the run box, it will try to fix any damaged files.
if all else fails you may save all your files and do a factory restore which will restore your system to its original setup on the day you bought it.

Most of these problems usually involve a HP printer. If you have one, re-insert the software disk and that may solve the problem. If not, you can eliminate this menace and stop the disruption to your PC as follows: From 'Start', select 'Run'; Type MSCONFIG - and enter; select 'StartUp' from the header tabs on the next screen; deselect TrayApp from the list presented to you. Job done.

Unfortunately, I don't even have tray app on my startup menu. I tried reloading the hp windows 7 driver as a dowload since I don't have a disc--no go; it wouldn't work

TrayApp.msi is a file included in CD SCANNER INSTALLATION. This driver/file belongs to the HP equipment installation. It could be scanner or printer. Any installation CD have it just pop your cd in and and run..
