Btw, disabling antivirus software DOES NOT WORK.

Do a repair of your Windows installation from recovery partition that is installed on your system. Check your online manual for key or combination of keys to hit during start up to access your recovery system. Do a repair (not a factory restore unless you have backed up your files to a different drive since that will wipe them) from there, it should repair your system files when restore cannot.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

you could also type SFC /scannow in the run box this should check for any damaged files and try to repair them, although this does sound like a registry setting may be damaged. follow fingers advice but you might save your files and docs first with a linux live cd, just in case.

i hate computers!
