why does my laptop with win7 shutdown hourly

Specs: Windows 7

my dell inspiron laptop with windows 7 shuts down every 60 minutes. i thought it was a power saver settings issue but i changed all of them set it never to shut down but the problem has persisted.

some help please.

Is the problem every hour specifically or does it shut down more sporadically? If the shut downs are sporadical then they could be due to overheating or problems with your power supply unit. If the problem is scheduled then you may want to do a virus scans although i have never heard of that kind of virus. You could also hold ctrl+alt+delete and search on the processes tab for somthing that is may be related to a shutdown scheduler. Another thing to try is to look at your installed programs because i use a shutdown scheduler call "airytec switch off" and that can be set to turn off pc 60mins after startup.

thanx for your effort dear. the laptop shuts down every 60 minutes consecutively; it doesnot display any error msg, no warning to save anything am working on. but am gon try what you have suggested and i will get back to u.
