Want 2 reverse xp installation on a win7 based os notebook

February 5, 2013 at 17:57:28
Specs: Windows 7

I have a Gateway NV73 Notebook that originally had windows 7 64 bit home premium on it. It was stolen from me but I now have it back and Im guessing because they were unable to bypass all of my passwords, they installed Windows XP on it. However, the BIOS is now password protected and when you go to sign in on the startup user logo it begins to say logging on, but than automatically goes to logging off, and it stays at the user startup screen. Anyways, I want to reinstall windows 7 and I was wondering if there was a way to do a full system restore to factory default.
Is there a way to recover my preexsistant windows 7 product key from the computer in the state it is in now?
They removed all of my little system stickers on the notebook and the safe with all of our important documentation including my product and purchase information for my notebook has yet to be located.

Wow, an unexpected password on the BIOS, removed system stickers, missing documentation and receipts from your purchase, etc.

Sorry Betty but this sounds way too suspicious. Contact Gateway, if you really bought the laptop from them, they will have your information on file. They can help you with passwords and recovery.
