I recently installed Win7 and want to install a voice modem. I have 2 modems, but, as modems are not the most common tech. in this day & age, I haven't been able to find drivers for either one. One is a Best Data 56HP92-PCT, and one is a Best Data 56HP92. I can't find Win7 drivers anywhere and none of the older drivers I have tried will work. I have also tried Driver Cure, and it doesn't even see the modem. I tried the trial of Driver Detective and it claims to have a driver for it, but I don't really want to pay for the software just to find out, since it would cost more than a new modem. Does anyone know how I can get either one of these working?

Yes, that's the driver. Yes, I used XP SP3 compatibility mode as administrator. It unpacks and then I get the error that it "may not have installed correctly" & to "try reinstalling using settings that are compatible with this version of Windows." Now, when I click on "Reinstall using recommended settings", I get the error: "Extracting DATA1.CAB Cannot create DATA1.CAB The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." Before, it just disappeared and did nothing. In either case, the modem is still listed as "PCI Simple Communications Controller" in Device Manager, with no driver.

OK, I just tried it and despite the screen going so dim, I could hardly see it, (I still have yet to figure that one out, lol,) I was able to run the driver application. When I did, it just flashed quickly as it unpacked and then did nothing. I had the Task Manager open while I did it and the # of running tasks went from 25 to 28 and quickly back to 25. It just refuses to run on Win7. Any other ideas? Thanks!!

You could try a manual installation -- via the device mgr -- by browsing to the location of the driver after unpacking the driver into a specific folder & see if that works. If not, you may be OOL on this one.
