unable to connect wireless comcast

Specs: Windows 7

recently bought refurbished Gateway laptop, has Windows 7 Home premium, cannot connect to internet wirelessly..connects fine with cable..other laptops in house connects no problem..I have tried everything..have comcast with netgear modem

can you see other wifi network?
is the wifi switched on, maybe there is a hard switch or you alt f2, f2, ctrl f2?
can you see you wifi adapter in device manager? is it working correctly?

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

You need to install wireless adapter driver if you have not done yet, after that do some configuration and connect it to wireless network. Feel free to check out this wireless network troubleshooting tips article if you need more ideas.

I have done all of those things and still nothing. I took it to work and it connected to my wireless there just fine and works great. Just not at home. Yes, I can see all of the other wifi networks avail, including mine.

Are you using wireless MAC filtering on your home router ? You would have to add the laptop's MAC address to the list. If you didn't have to do that with your other wireless devices, then you're probably not using filtering. It also could be an issue with the firewall on your Gateway.
