Been using Thunderbird with no probs for years - changed my password. Now Thunderbird will not work with it.
It keeps saying that the new password is incorrect- but I know its correct as i've checked it online and on my phone.
I am 100% certain the password is fine - but Thunderbird says no.
Can anyone help with this
It says
Configuration could not be verified. Could the username or password be wrong
thanks
I had a similar problem. Delete the email address and re-add it as a new address. When you then put in the password, it will work. I am not sure what the problem is, but I had this on two systems and this fixed both. The first time was very frustrating and took a while before I decided that I had enough and was finally willing to try what I was sure would work but thought that it should be much easier just changing a setting ot trying again, and again, and again.... It was much easier to delete the email account and add it back again. There may be a few settings that you need to redo, but that is simple.
Good luck. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
Tried that - didn't work. Then I went to the Google site and made an Application Specific Password - that worked.
Many thanks
Glad to hear you resolved it. This might help someone else some day.

IT worked for a few days then stopped working. I've been using Thunderbird for years - never a problem - and now it stops working !
Tried deleting the account - didn't work
Will try an application specific password again...
Augh!
Remember 'server settings' and 'outgoing sever' are in different places and you need to get both right.
Are you absolutely sure that you are using the same letters, numbers, symbols, and capitalizations? Have you thought of trying a different password that might translate on different devices easier?
Check your mail supplier to see if they have updated, newer, or optional settings or ports that might work better.
If all else fails, back up your contacts, uninstall, and reinstall Thunderbird.
Another thought, if you had made any changes or updates around the same time as you changed passwords, you might try a system restore to before that, confirm that the email works, and try the change, install, or update again. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
Hi How does one backup Thunderbird?
I've searched around but have never found a backup software that can do this for the latest version of THunderbird.
Thanks
