A week ago, a "msg" appeared in bottom right hand corner, saying - "Windows 7,Build 7601,This copy of windows is not genuine". I rang the PC man who built this PC in May last year (2010) & he says it is genuine. This is interfering with my desktop background picture as I have to always re-personalise it, as the screen goes black, with only this msg and my desktop icons showing. It's so frustrating. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate. Can anyone help me as I would like to get my PC back to the way it was without this - I had no problems for 16 months and now this. This is the first PC I have owned and it is so heartbreaking that this is happening.
Please help me someone, there must be an answer out there to resolve this.
Thanks
Bella
Well, if it is a legit copy, just follow the advice I linked above to get everything validated again. If your Windows DVD doesn't look like this, it may not be a real copy.
Thanks Razor2.3.
I still need more help on this as I have been led to believe that this copy of Win 7 Ultimate is genuine.
How do I get it back to where it was???Bella
Follow this guy's advice. Just be aware that PC builders tend to lie about the validity of the Windows they sell.
Thanks Razor2.3.
I guess you just can't trust anyone anymore.
When I rang him 4 days ago he swears that this is a genuine copy of Windows7 Ultimate.
I am not that computer literate to know, and as he was a friend of a friend, I trusted that I got "the genuine article".Regards, Bella

I will follow your advice.
The only problem I have now is that he did not leave the Windows DVD with me.
I have sent him an email about all this and told him to bring it to me asap.
I have all fingers crossed for a +ve outcome to this problem.
Thanks again.Bella
It's a virus bella bella. The version of Windows is genuine. You probably need to run a virus scan.
