Slow Streaming Brand New Netbook 4GBRAM

December 10, 2012 at 17:42:24
Specs: Windows 7

I didn't think this would be possible, but it's true. Brand new Acer Aspire netbook, here are the specs:

1.3GHz Intel Pentium 967 Dual-Core
4GB of DDR3 RAM
500GB 5400rpm Hard Drive
Integrated Intel HD Graphics
11.6" HD CineCrystal LED-Backlit Display
1366 x 768 Native Resolution
2-in-1 Digital Media Card Reader
802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, 10/100 Fast Ethernet
Integrated Webcam, Microphone & Speakers
Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

Shouldn't this be able to stream video smoothly? All other computers on network are fine, mac, iPad, Desktop PC. Thanks! I'm mostly Mac so I don't know how to tweak pcs.

What do you mean by "slow"? Is the playback choppy?

You've been helped by a 15 year old.

It's better, but only sometimes. Will update flash. Sometimes the entire youtube page comes up with black video windows, even the little videos to the side.

Make sure your video drivers are the latest. If that doesn't work, try turning off hardware acceleration in the video apps you use.

You wouldn't be sharing this LAN with anybody else would you?

If you are, and somebody else within your LAN is doing some heavy downloading that'll mess up your streaming worse than anything else.

If you aren't sharing but are running say a p-to-p file sharing program, shut it down and try your streaming again and see if that doesn't fix your issues.

It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.

Yeah, I would test my connection. If the playback is choppy, its probably are RAM issue. So you should cutdown on the background programs. Also make sure you dont have any programs constantly access the internet like a anti spyware program. I would also try to use a different browser or cutdown on the toolbars and addons to eliminate conflict.
