I have an Acer Aspire 6920 notebook that's about a year old - was running Vista okay but decided to upgrade to Win 7. I first did an upgrade which worked fine but there were a few little issues and particularly when logging on and off with a roaming profile (the computer is a member of my Win2003 domain). It would take about 3 minutes to log in and about 7 minutes to log out (compared with Vista which was about 1.5 min to log in and maybe 30 seconds to log out. So I reinstalled a fresh copy and found drivers from scratch, etc...expecting this to fix the problem. Now, it takes 15 minutes to log off! Login is about the same. If I log in/off with a local account, no roaming profile, it works fine. If I use th same roaming profiles on the other netbooks and desktops I have, there is no problem - it's fast. I've tested the network speed with large and small files - it's performing fine. I've tested the had drive - it's performing fine. It's only roaming profiles...which works fine with all the othr computers (which are also running \Windows 7). ?

OK, I have an update...there are a couple of problems here and they're difficult to separate but I found out what the biggest problem with the notebook is...the Acer biometric fingerprint scanner software. I reinstalled YET AGAIN without installing any Acer drivers and everything was quite fast. As soon as the fingerprint scanner software went in...I was back to 10 minute logoffs. Uninstalled the software and I was down to 1:50...which is still slow but kind of acceptable.
When I connect to a hard-wire 1 GB connection, it takes about 35 seconds to log off. The same profiles on other computers never take more than 15 seconds to save on logoff (including a small netbook over wireless)...
Oh well...
