What factors decides how long it takes windows 7 to boot up? Will Windows 7 premium home edition be as slow? Mine takes forever. It's been on for five minutes now and the hard drive is still running 90 to nothing, But I can still get on the net.

Is this new, or has it always been that way? Regardless of what type of components you've got, it shouldn't take that long (five minutes) to load your desktop. There's something else going on.
Are you getting some kind of error message when you try to connect?

Drivers being wrong or faulty will cause long boot times. See MS pages on long boot xp drivers.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Windows 7 will basically boot around the speed of xp (probably faster than vista) But the main factor in booting is your hard drive, the faster it is the faster your boot (Like the solid state hard drives are making booting very fast) but then you also need good cpu ram and mb for booting
