I am new so I am sorry if I am asking in the wrong place.

Okay about a month ago I installed windows 7 build 7100. I had not really bothered with my home network during this time. Before the install I had XP Pro 64 on this machine on a home network with a XP Home computer the kids use.

Today I decided to move some files from this comp to the other for back up so I could reformat and do a clean install on this computer. This used to be easy lol.

I can see the other computer. I can access the drives. I can access and run programs. I can not access data files just pictures and stuff.

"Windows can not access \\ computer name\Drive letter\ File name"

"You do not have permission to access \\ computer name\Drive letter\ File name. Contact your network admin to request access."

Are you having problems moving files both ways or just one way, as in, transferring files from Windows 7 to XP. Regardless, you need to ensure that you've enabled network discovery & file sharing in Windows 7 & the files/folders you want to share are permissible for sharing -- simply right-click the files & from properties, go to the sharing tab & check-mark share this file/folder box.
