Hello-- Put together a new computer--something I don't do often, so not so good at it. I've got a 300 Gb Velociraptor that I want to be my system drive, and two 1tb drives that I'd like to set up as a RAID 0 array for data. Is this possible? I can't really tell from the mobo documentation if I can set up the RAID on only two drives, and I don't know how to set up Win 7 so it will use my drives this way. Can I do this?

I don't see any advantage to having your data set up as RAID 0 as you wouldn't get any speed increase because your OS (which would still be doing most of the work) is not included.

Alrighty then...so no RAID.
Then I guess my alternative would be to go with the 300 Gb for the OS and have two independent 1 Tb data drives (I have a lot of video, hence the need for all the space).
So, the second half of my query: can Windows 7 be set up to look at something other than C: for documents and music and all the other stuff? I don't mean just going through the "Computer" tab and moving stuff, rather Windows defaults to the other drives for things other than program files and OS files.
Thanks, Eric

You can always try this one (comes from WindowsXP):
1. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion 2. Find ProgramFilesDir whose default should be C:\Program Files 3. Change this to whatever directory you wish. I changed it to D:\Program Files for example.
Remember you have to reboot for your changes to show.

Summary: An OS does NOT need a huge amount of space. IF you partition properly, 25GB should be more than enough. Your problem is you apparently don't know how to setup partitions. There should be one for the O...
