I had both XP and Win 7 On my same partition. I put the HD in another computer and deleted the Windows XP folder because it kept booting to that. I want XP gone, so after I deleted the folder I thought iI was good. But now when I try booting it says
"windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt windows system32 hal.dll"
I looked the error up, and it appears to be an XP problem. So it is still trying to boot to XP.
What can I do to get it back to booting to Win 7? It is under the standard "Windows" folder on C.

try easybcd, a free download, delete the reference to winxp, in the bcd start up and you should be ok, sounds like you have xp set as the default startup os for some reason.
i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
