I suspect that some aspects of Nero are not compatible with W7. I have Nero 7 and I cannot use Nero Vision with it, the system simply hangs. I would imagine that version 5 and 6 would suffer a similar fate.

Nero * MIGHT be compatible with Windows 7. I know none of the components of Nero 7 are.

That said, try removing Nero. You should get a choice to repair or modify. Choose modify and select not to use that portion of Nero. You should always install Nero that way anyways. There are components that you probably don't want to install.

I checked the Nero site after haing problems with Nero Essentials 7 and found Nero 9 is Windows 7 compatible. Don't know about 8.

I have reinstalled Nero 8 on my old vista pc so I can use NeroVision, Nero 9 is compatible with Windows 7, but in the UK it costs more than $70 just for an upgrade.

landon

Did you have Nero 7 running and then perform an upgrade to Windows 7?

I tried to install Nero 7 and go a message from Windows that it is not compatible with this version of Windows.

I have nero 8 that was installed after Win7 but never use it anymore so I got rid of it. I did get a message saying that it might not be compatable but I had no problems with it. I use other free programs that don't seem to be so top heavy.

It was NeroVision in Nero 8 that caused the problem , I had no problems with data discs or audio cd's. I could create dvd's, but soon after the pc would just hang ,ie no response from apps & ie 8, desktop would freeze.
