need to change password to get into my netbook

Specs: Windows 7
i am not really great with comps so need step by step basic instructions my ex has put a password on netbook so i cant use it how do i change the password i typed few different names in and it said welcome and then says wrong user name or password
please help me

I'd suggest you ask the person that did that. It may be criminal to do that even if you are or were married. If they don't want to offer help then I'd worry that some other issue is there.

Do you have files on it that you want to keep? If not then consider just restoring it to the way it was when new. Hopefully you made disks if needed or know how to perform a recovery.

A complete reload would help assure you that no malware or spyware has been left on it.

Try booting into Windows Safe Mode by tapping F8 at start up. There may not be any password to log into safe mode. Hit enter for the password in there.

If all else fails and you do need to recover files, you can make and bppt to a live version of Linux and use it to copy files.

Or you can remove the hard drive and attach it to another compatible computer or attach it with a USB adapter or enclosure.
