You don't need to be an IT Tech, but you do need a valid licence key. You should have received this when you purchased Windows 7.

And the process of Activation is not complicated at all. You can call them if you don't understand how to do it.
Windows 7 can be installed without a product key and be used for 30 days. After that time, you have to enter a valid licence key and activate. That is why you receive the message " buy a product key ". Somebody must have sold you a computer without a Windows licence key.
