Solved Laptop to TV Connection/Control Issues?

January 27, 2013 at 02:30:25
Specs: Windows 7

I want to set up my connection to my tv so that I can have netflix on the browser and playing through my tv while being able to do other things with my laptop and have Netflix remain constant on the tv. I have it connected using an HDMI cord but can't figure out how to set it up so Netflix plays through the tv and I can still do whatever else on my laptop. :/ My laptop is an Acer Aspire 7560G-8612.

Okay, I managed to figure this out for myself seeing as no one here really knew how to do this. You extend the tv as a second screen to the laptop by going into screen resolution and hit "Apply" then "Ok" when it asks if you want to keep these settings. Keep your laptop as your main display and the tv as your secondary display.. After that, you open up the browser and drag it from the laptop screen onto the tv screen and use netflix that way.

You can't do that. When you use your tv as a monitor, you get the signal from your laptop. Whatever is on your browser will show up on the tv screen, period. To watch Netflix on your tv while you watch something different on your laptop, you will need two different sources of input. I understand you can stream netflix to your tv with an xbox or game console. Bottom line is, you can't do what you're trying to do.

I wonder if there is a way to do a side by side duel monitor, like when you are using a projector. I am not familiar with the hdmi setup and whether it works the same way as with a monitor cable.

See the link below. Netflix can be viewed on a computer. Whether or not you can watch on your TV while doing other things is another story.

You need an HD graphics card and a fast internet connection. You also need a netflix account. See the link below.

I know how to set up dual monitors but if you don't have a fast computer and fast internet you won't be able to multi-task.

I stand corrected. I didn't think about the dual monitor concept. Thanx.
