Before you started, did you make sure that the laptop was Windows 7 compatible and that there were drivers available? Have you tried testing your memory with Memtest via a bootable CD? Have you tested your hard drive with the hard drive mfg's utility? Do you have enough memory for Windows 7 installed? How about the exact make and model of the laptop? Post it.
