Have a new PC running Win 7. HOW can I disable the %&*#! beeps that sound every time I hit the shift, contrl, start and Alt keys?!?! Sound Scheme is set to "No Sounds" in Control Panel... somebody please help me before I go insane!!
This sounds like Sticky Keys, Toggle Keys, or Filter Keys. Go to the start menu and type "Change how your keyboard works". There should be only one result, click on it. I'm assuming you don't use these features, so:
Un-check "Turn on Sticky Keys"
Un-check "Turn on Toggle Keys"
Un-check "Turn on Filter Keys"Then click "Set up Sticky Keys" and un-check "Turn on Sticky Keys when SHIFT if pressed five times". Click the back button in the top right and un-check "Turn on Toggle Keys by holding down the NUM LOCK key for 5 seconds". Next go to "Set up Filter Keys" and un-check "Turn on Filter Keys when right SHIFT is pressed for 8 seconds".
That should rid you of your beeping problems. Let me know if this doesn't work!
THANK YOU!!! It WAS the sticky keys (which since I never use them, I'd forgotten even existed)! Ahh, silence, sans the tap, tap, tap, of my keyboard IS golden :-)
Your welcome! Good luck with that keyboard :-)
