I have installed windows xp in my c: drive and Windows 7 in D drive.
Now I got used to with windows 7 and would like to uninstall Windows xp.
I don't want to go to the painful process of formatting both drive and reinstalling windows 7 in my C drive again.
But...BUT...is it possible to somehow uninstall or format C drive keeping my D drive's Os (Windows 7) working ??
Thanks !

You can wipe the partition that XP's installed on & merge the partition with your Windows 7. You may need to rewrite the MBR depending on which OS you installed first between XP & Windows 7, I'm assuming you installed XP before Windows 7 - is that right?

Thanks Sabertooth !!!
thank you very much for your tips.
Now coming to the process points:
I can wipe and merge both partition into one.
But can anyone just put some lights on the process of re-writing of the MBR. Even a link or any previously published article would be a great help for me. ( I did googled but was unable to find proper thread)
Thanks!
P.S : As per your assumption, Windows xp was installed first in C drive.

Do you have to merge?
Likely

Personally, I would keep the dual-boot arrangement intact for contingency reasons. On my main machine for example, if the main OS is unbootable for any reason, I'm usually not flustered, I simply boot into the other OS & keep working & at the same time have the ability to access all my files till I can boot back into my main OS.
If you do not have a large HDD & prefer not to run a dual-boot, no worries. Booting into Windows 7, you can reclaim the space occupied by the second OS (XP in your case) by extending the partition occupied by XP once you've deleted the partition ... the built-in "Disk Management" console should allow you to do that. And if it doesn't, see below:
- Download & install EASEUS Partition Master for free.
- Download & install EasyBCD -- also free.
- Go into the disk management console & delete the XP partition.
- Open EasyBCD & from the Add Remove Entries section - delete the Windows XP boot entry from the boot menu list.
- Go to the Manage Bootloader section & after ensuring that Reinstall the Vista/Windows 7 Bootloader radio button is selected, click Write MBR & reboot your machine.
- Once you are back in Windows 7, open EASEUS Partition Master & use that to merge your partitions together, if the built-in "Disk Management" console didn't allow you as initially suggested.
That's it!

Thanks Sabertooth !!!
Thanks a lot for yet another prompt and great tips.
As I have plenty of free space in my HDD, after going through your suggestion, I made up my mind to keep both the OSe's.
And of course, If needed I will follow your route to do the things in future.
Thanks to your kind tips and links of those utilities, now I feel that the process is much more simpler than what I was assuming (fearing ).
Cheers!!!
:)
