I have been installing drivers for the intel mobile 945 but still cannot get the netbook to display in 1024 X 568 I need this so I can see the start button it only goes from 1024 x 768 to 800 x 600 when i try a driver from Vista a message pops up saying the operating system is not supported, but teh windows 7 drivers loads just doesn't correct the no start button

ok...might you have installed improper drivers...please post your GPU model
try this as well:
Start menu>Run>type "msconfig" without quotes>select tab "BOOT INI" Probably you´ll see the menu called "Boot Options", there you should uncheck "/BASEVIDEO".
restart then...

i checked the settings and base video was already unchecked..
here is the other info

I do have an external monitor connected but have tried it with the netbook only and have the same issues, the start button appears fine on the external

I didn`t want this VEEERY detailed log, then I wanted just...your graphics card name
please check device manager for yellow markers related to the screen and/or graphics card --- there you can find the graphics card brand and model

no yellow markers, sorry about the detail I thought more is better, lol
in device manager it says
Mobile Intel (R) 945 Express Chipset family
driver version 8.15.10.1930
9/23/2009

hmm...I coundn`t find windows 7 drivers...
however, you can try this to scan and update your driver

Thanks for your help, but it says that the driver is current.. I just cannot get the required 1024 x 568 resolution

I found that one also, doesn't give me the correct res.. actaully i think the res should be 1024 x 576 not 568 like I origianlly typed

I have I do have that resoultion on a windows vista machine... but that driver doesn't work with win 7

you can`t expect it to work with windows 7 ( the Vista driver )
Monitor Size Native Resolution
14-15 inch 1024x768
17-19 inch 1280x1024
20-23 inch 1600x1200
24 + inch 1900x1200
17-18 inch Widescreen 1280x800
19 inch Widescreen 1440x900
20-23 inch Widescreen 1680x1050
24-29 inch Widescreen 1920x1200
30 + inch Widescreen 2560x1600...you can`t change this...what size is your monitor ?...
the only option to do this is to follow this site instuructions ( Chapter 4 )

I would guess a 10" its the netbook monitor resolution that I need to fix, and I have used some vista business drivers and that did work on other things.

ok...please follow this link and read chapter 4...there you can choose between a bunch of resolutions...

we may have had aproblem with the netbook itself since I just put windows 7 on another netbook of the same model and this one works fine..thanks for your help

Did you do something else to the machine beyond loading Windows 7 on it - like flashing the BIOS?
Since the native resolution for the 10.1-inch WSVGA Mini 2140 -- not to be confused with the Mini 2140 HD -- is 1024x576, I would expect you to have that option with the right chipset/driver installed.

I haven't done anything with the biso but I will see if the bios are the same in the 2 netbooks
