I haven't had the time or inclination to try the beta & rc versions, so was really pleased to receive my pre-order from PCWorld early yesterday (they'd told me I might not get it for a week or so with the impending postal strike!) so 2 days before official release suits me!. Spent 2 hours(!) running Easy Transfer on the Vista system before swapping in a new drive and doing a clean install of Win 7 Pro/64. Took around 20 minutes, and then a further 35 minutes to run the Easy Transfer again (didn't think it would work on the 'new system - fond memories of trying the same route from XP to Vista!). All hardware drivers found with no problem, great to see 4Gb RAM actually recognised now. Happily accepted all the odd programs I've thrown at it so far - Office07, Mailwasher, Photoshop etc. Happily accepted my pda with no problems. Even got the the house workgroup sorted out (what's with 'Homegroup' anyway?). One slight moan that the backup insists on trying to include my data drive in the 'system image' with no option to ignore it, but I'm sure I'll get around that. So far there's one happy bunny here who'd happily recommend all Vista users to take the plunge & go for Win7 - you won't regret it.
