how to kill Win7 explorer to play starcraft 2

August 26, 2010 at 18:04:14
Specs: Windows 7

explorer.exe is a good program but when im doing something that takes up a lot of cp usage i relly do not need it so i want to make a .bat file that will start this program and end explorer because i get tired of loading up taskmanager every time i want to play a game of starcraft 2

also i have set all video settings on low and have an upgraded video card and extra ram and still have lag when i run explorer so i just want to make a shortcut that ends explorer and starts sc2

This sounds like a lot of work for virtually no gain.
While you are playing a game or running some other application explorer.exe is using almost zero CPU time. Any performance gains here will be far below what could be measured.

Pretty much the same for memory usage.

This kind or micro-management of system resources is a complete waste of time with a modern OS.

Keep your system clean, avoid AV prog's that are hogs (Norton, McAfee), and post all of your system specs on the Gaming forum to see where your money and time would be best spent to improve your gaming experience. Sometimes one small thing that you are overlooking could be your main problem here, or it may be a few smaller things combined, or maybe you will need to wait for a major upgrade for your gaming to improve much.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.

a batch program can do it.

@echo off
taskkill /f explorer.exe
start (what ever program you want)
start explorer.exe
