I got the iso from microsoft, i'm unable to make the DVD bootable. I used an older version of Nero(bundled version) and ended up with an empty floppy and a burn iso. I tried it with Nero 7(bundled version) looked for the "bootable" option and it doens't come up....i know bundle version. My last attempt was with Imgburn(suggested by microsoft) and it's asking me for the boot to put on the floppy....where is it??? on the iso?? Do i have to mount the iso to find the boot?
I want to install it clean on another computer, so no worries.
I'm used to build my machines from scratch, but a non bootable iso?!?!? I'm at a lost. Thanks for helping.

I burned the CD with the ISO and Roxio and I didn't have to choose any "bootable" option. I just booted to the CD and installed to an empty partition.

Normally, when you double-click ( or single-click depending on your configuration ) the .iso file with Nero installed, an option just pops up telling you to burn image.
Just insert a blank DVD and there you go.
If you burn an image file, it burns bootable.

It appears you were trying to create a bootable dvd from Nero and then adding the iso file, that is why it was asking for floppy.
As the previous poster said just select burn image/iso file option in Nero, NOT a data file or bootable disk.

I'm glad you were finally successful in installing your copy of 7, but I just don't know why anyone would have trouble with it except for one thing, the misleading instructions that came with it. When I downloaded 7, I saved it to a location, right clicked it and chose the "Send To" option from the menu and sent it to my DVD drive and once the temp file was created, I simply chose "Burn These Files To CD or DVD" and viola, I had my installation disk. I needed no special ".ISO" software for the process. I simply used my XP system's default options. I am using 7 in a dual boot configuration and so far, so good. Beware modifications to an older version of windows in dual boot wth 7.

My old copy of Nero wouldn't burn the large ISO onto a DVD. I downloaded a copy of a program called DeepBurner and it created a bootable DVD.

Stainlessman....I was burning an ISO to a dvd instead of telling the program to burn an "Image" to my dvd. Thing is that i didn't burn much than mp3's for music in my car...i have much more experience burning wood in my fireplace though...lol!!!
