"Does anyone out there know how to do this ?"

I do not mean to sound insulting but to answer your question - Almost everybody knows how to do that. The easiest way to explain is to have someone sitting with you to show you.

Optionally doing it onto a Win98 PC is the same for a Win7 PC as described at http://www.ehow.com/how_6102_copy-f...

My friend what he means is that do you know the source code
which can copy the files from the CD and store it into a folder.

Just put in the CD. Open 'Computer' and 'CD/DVD Drive' select any or all files, right click on the file (or one of the files) selected and choose 'Copy'. Open or create a folder on your hard drive and right click there and select 'Paste'.
You do not need a source code or any special script and it will work for one file or a full DVD with many files at one time. The more files, the larger the files, the more time it will take, that is all.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
