Solved how does windows know if a product key has already been used

November 19, 2012 at 06:31:27
Specs: Windows 7, amd dual core processor e350

If you buy a copy of windows 7 and install it on one offline computer then try using the same product ID to install it onto a second offline computer would both be activated because there is no way that microsoft know if the product key has been used as your computers are not connected to each other or the internet. Also I have searched this and there is absolutely nothing about this on google.

You have 30 days to activate after installing. And to do it, you have to connect to the internet or call Microsoft. That's when you'll be "caught" using the same product key. If you don't activate within that time period, Win7 goes into "reduced functionality mode" plus it will constantly nag you to activate.
