how do I recover my emails?

Specs: Windows 7

My PC died - I purchased a harddrive reader so I have recovered all my files. The new PC came loaded with IE 7 so outlook express is gone & replaced with Windows Live Mail (that's killing me in itself) my problem is that I can't import my old email files as the email were coming from a POP3 server (the server deleted the files when they were transferred into outlook). I can see the files but don't know how to recover. I'm technically challenged but with time/patience/swearing I can usual figure things out. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers

When you say you can 'see the files' what format are they in? Live Mail can import from old Outlook Express folders very easily (under the top left menu, next to the 'Home' tab there's a wizard to walk you through importing messages), but not from Outlook folders (I guess MS assumed anyone with Outlook would stick to Outlook when they upgraded).

Thanks for your reply. I've been through the import messages wizard - it places the storage folder in my mail but doesn't bring in any messages. The files I can see on my 'now' portable harddrive are:
folders.dbx
inbox.dbx
offline.dbx
outbox.dbx

Thanks
