cant play store bought dvd

A bit more information is needed in order to get a reasonable reply; What happens when you try to play it (nothing, error message, flashing beacons)? What software are you trying to play the DVD with? Is your DVD powerful enough to play DVDs ok? Do other DVDs play ok? Does it play on any other DVD players? Any other pertinent information?
