Lost Interne Explorer v8 from my system (following an automatic upgrade i guess) but cannot install a replacement because a message tells me that I already have a more recent version of IE on my computer. This is nowhere to be found.
That is probably because it would have upgraded to IE 9, and as long as it sees that installation it will not let you go backward to IE8. Do you have Internet Explorer 9 listed under "Programs" in the control panel? Are you saying that there are no Internet explorer icons on the desktop and the all programs?
That is correct, there are no icons anywhere although it looks like an automatic update (a 'Browser Choice' icon appeared on the desktop a couple of days ago) has placed a IE version 9 folder under programs. (no .exe options in this folder).
Are you wanting to go back to IE8 or is it just that you want some form of IE working? If you just want IE to work, have you tried downloading IE9 from here?:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/...It might well accept it and overwrite what you already have. You need to select the right version for your system.
Alternatively if you uninstall IE9 it should go back to IE8.
Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
I mean under programs in the control panel used to be add/remove programs in XP, now Programs in Windows 7. Uninstalling 9 should revert back to 8.
If IE9 is not showing see this link: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...
