On my laptop which I've set up a dual boot with windows 7, I can't get wifi to work. The driver seems to be in order, but wifi doesn't initiate as it does with XP.
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
2 GB Crucial Ballistix
Asus P5K Premium WiFi
2x WD Raptor
nVidia 8800GTS 640MBAMD AthlonXP 3200+ OC'd
1GB Corsair
Asus A7N8X-deluxe mobo
ATI 9800 AIW

Are there Vista drivers for it? Did you try the XP drivers?
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

the drivers are installed but wireless does not initiate as it does on the XP side.

try downloadng the driver again from the manufacturer using bitcommet(or whichever you use)instead of installing straight from the site and run the troubleshoot compatibility as an XP program once the driver is downloaded.

I'm running Win 7 and Win 7 64 in two seperate partition on a machine where Vista is the primary OS. In both installs Win 7 identified my Actiontec DSL modem, asked for my password, then logged on and found my wireless HP printer and installed drivers.

I had a similar drama, and found that Windows 7 does not properly support the WPA, WPA2 encryptions (either AES or TKIP). I've had to drop my encryption down to WEP to achieve connectivity. Hope this helps.

I have a notebook running Vista HP here that connects just fine via Wi-Fi with this desktop & also connects just fine at other places as well.
Do you have the same problem connecting at other places as well as you do at home?

i am also having difficulties with a built in asus wifi, on a p5, its a marvell yukon card but no asus or marvell drivers work, i gave up and put in an old conceptronic wifi card works perfectly.....
i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

What do you mean? The wifi doesn't connect unless you do it manually? Are you using a router or ad-hoc mode? Don't feel bad, I have this problem to. I can't connect to my ad-hoc network automatically in Vista or 7 because M$ says it poses a security risk. It's a pain in the neck.
