I've made a dumb mistake and now I'm trying to fix it, and I'm wondering what the best way is. I had Windows Vista installed on my C:, and I made another small partition with Windows 7 Beta on it (D:). I needed to format, and with the Windows 7 RC out, I wanted to install that on my C: as my primary OS rather than reinstalling Vista. What I did though was go into Dell's startup options, open the command line, and Format C: on the command line. My thinking was that I could still boot to the D: partition (with the W7 beta on it), and through that install the W7 RC onto the blank C:. Now on startup all I get is "Bootmgr is missing" -- any solutions for this?

If your Windows 7 DVD is handy: Pop it in & boot from it. After booting from the DVD, chose Next at the Installation Screen.
At the Install Now screen - DO NOT choose - Install Now
Instead, choose Repair your Computer
At the System Recovery Options:
Choose Windows 7 from the list & click Next.
You'll have five options for repairing your Windows installation:
1. Startup Repair
2. System Restore
3. System Image Recovery
4. Windows Memory Diagnostic
5. Command PromptSelect Startup Repair & let it scan your computer in order to attempt to find & fix the problem.

download BCDEDIT a simple small free tool that seems to fix all vista and win 7 boot issues very easily..good luck
i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

You Must Reformat The Hard Drive And Reinstall Either One OS As Upgrade Or Any Other Command Will Only Keep Your Files,But Deletes Other OS,The Problem Is That Windows Vista And Windows 7 Shares The Same Windows Master Boot Record,So By Upgrading,You Have Destroyed The Master Boot Record.
