Bugger, I just tried a few different cities out of curiosity and got the same response for both developer and IT professional.

They must have gone very quickly.

That's because M$ best corporate customers in the area must have gotten advance notice and booked every seats available. In other words the best customer gets all of the meat and the little people like us gets the bones. Life isn't fair but that's the way it goes. Favoritism maybe.

Makes no difference to me the closest cities to me are almost 12 hours away. It would almost be cheaper to pay for it.
