I think you really need to call AOL and/or your service provider. They should be able to help you sort something like this out.

My name is JRComp, and I approve this message.

My shots in the dark:

1. Is the modem in your new Asus laptop enabled?
2. Is Firewall blocking it?
3. Did you try dial up AOL from safe mode?

The Information I give is probably what AOL has allredy given you.
Open AOL but don't sign on - Click Connect Options - Advanced Settings -
Modem Tab - Click - Find Modem - After it finds the Modem click Close
Go to the Dial up Location Tab and check your phone number.
If is't not right follow instsructions so they can find the right number.
Your location should be named Home
--------------------------------
Control Panel - Firewall - Allow a program or Feature - Their should be a
long line of AOL listed. If not Click Allow Program - Click ADD
From the list add AOL
As a temporary solution turn your Anti Virus off only until you get online.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you use this next part you will be reinstalling AOL
On your lower right System Tray - Right click the AOL Icon - System Information -
AOL Software Tab Section
Click Quick Restore
Click OK for Warning -.
When you do this you will have to resign on to AOL.
Sign on to AOL - When asked enter your sign on name. Don't use the part @aol.com
Enter old Password - OK
Go to Keyword and type Store Password - Enter Password - check mark box - Save.
Don't check mark the email box unless you want your email password protected.

Go to and click Read Mail - A popup will come up - Click yes to save mail offline.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you can get someone with broadband to download AOL 9.6 or try it with
your dial-up and create a CD.

Edit
Most computers don't come with dial-up modem now. You have to order or buy one to
plug into a usb and your all set.
