no cd drive on my computer. I changed the password on my log on to the computer and want to be able to just reload it all back to factor settings.

de-ann ,It would really be nice if you let us know what type of PC and model number you have. You should have had the option to make a back up, even if it was using a thumb drive. Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions 7 Golds
Any netbooks I have seen require an External USB optical drive to create backup media. I returned an Acer for that reason. Couldn't even use an External USB hard drive.
Re #3. I think that might depend on the particular netbook. I have an MSI U160 (Win 7) and it reads my 100G USB HD fine (normally attached to another computer for backing things up).
This underlines the importance of obtaining the PC info as per #2.
