Your programs (applications) may not work or you may have a very difficult time trying to get them to work. You may have to find and apply patches and work arounds to get things working.

You may find it difficult to transfer your data to the new system. XP to Windows 7 is not a simple upgrade.

I kind of agree with cost. Might look a buying a premade computer with Windows 7 installed and sell your old system.

You may not have drivers for your devices, like network cards, so you may be unable to access the internet. This also includes any other part of your computer.

You will have to learn new ways to do old tasks. Dunno why MS changed simple things.????

As compared to OS upgrades in the past, the specific cost associated with the shift to Windows 7 is not in conflict with what users are accustomed to. In fact, Windows 7 is so competitively priced that if you adjust for inflation, it remains the least expensive OS from M$ to date.

For example:

Back then, Windows XP Pro (OEM 3-Pack) would set you back $320.00 & a single OEM pack went for IIRC $130.00. In today's dollars, this is roughly $390.00 & $160.00 respectively. Right now, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (OEM 3-Pack) is available on Newegg for $310.00, while a single pack of the same SKU can be had for $99.99
