Zenith laptop broken battery pin

I recently bought a Zenith Data Systems Z-lite 320L laptop from a thrift store. I can plug it in and use it through the power from the disk drive as long as the battery is not in. If the battery is in the computer will not start and obviously won't start with just the battery. There is one pin connection missing from where the battery connects to the computer. Any help in fixing this would be greatly appreciated. Also, although the power goes through the attached floppy disk drive and powers the computer fine, the disk drive is not recognized.

On zenith laptops, if the batteries are completly dead (meaning won't recharge) it will fail to start. replace batteries and that should fix the problem.
Note: Battery packs can be expensive, what I did on one of them was to open, carefully, the enclosure and replaced each cell with over the counter NiCad batteries. Make sure you get the proper voltage.
