Just about tried everything yoy folks suggested but still I am getting nowhere. When i try to get windows after loading dos and win then switching the machine off I get himem missing from some or the other file.I can grt into msdos win file ,config.sys which is just config ,autoexec, the win file is empty. The device=high commands are ok and other device commands pointing at windows, dos etc.
Perhaps you can explain this exactly-----Missing Himem.sys make sure that the file is in your windows directory and that its location is correctly specified in your CON.FIG SYS file.
Can you step by step explain this or any other suggestions

The directory c:\windows should contain the program himem.sys. Your config.sys should refer to it in this manner:DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
Put this exact line as the first line of your config.sys by typing this:
EDIT C:\CONFIG.SYS [ENTER]
Type in the exact line at the top, then FILE->SAVE, FILE->EXIT. Then Reboot.
Lightspeed.
P/s
Himem.sys is in your mail if you don't have it. It should be in your Dos also, but i'm trying to keep things as simple as possible. Just save HIMEM.SYS directly to c:\windows if you did not find it there. If you did, ignore the mail.

Lightspeed, i am having the same problem, could u please send me the himem.sys file also. I would appreciate it. thanks
