Write is the forerunner to Wordpad, it is automatically installed with windows 3.1.

I don't remember which was the last version of WordPerfect 16 bit, I think that I have 5.something installed on my 486 with Win 3.1.

i know. i'm looking for a simple word processor that can open .DOC (word documents), just like win 9x's wordpad.exe only that it's for win 3.1x (16bit). write.exe only opens .WRI.

If you just need to view and print Word documents, you can get a free viewer for win3.1 at microsoft's site.
