win.ini error message

Apparently there is a line in my win.ini setup file that is incorrect b/c when windows opens, it gives me an error message that says is can't find a file, but it doesn't give me the name of it. The message dissapears when I click "ok". Is there a way to check my win.ini file and figure out which line is causing the problem.

Unforntunentely there is no quick check in windows that lets you check to see what file it's looking for, it's kind of odd that it didn't give you the name of the file. You can either live with the message, load an older win.ini file(you should have a back up copy called win.bak or win.old or something) or if you have a little bit of time you can go through your whole win.ini file and take out different lines to see if that was the problem(put a rem in front of any line you want to take out so the line will still be there, but windows will skip it, i.e rem LOAD=optmod.exe). The first line I would check is the LOAD= line and make sure that everything after that is a valid filename and/or directory (make sure you make a back up copy of win.ini or any file you change so you can restore it if something goes wrong). If the LOAD= line is okay then I would go down each line and make sure that any dir listed is also valid, that means every line (good ol' windows, yeah right). Also if you see any line that specifies an .ini file then check that .ini file as well to make sure that it also has valid files and directories listed. I hope this might help a bit, if I just confused the heck out of you feel free to e-mail me back.

when I start up my system, I get this error say the msrexe.exe is not there...and then I click ok and another error says the win.ini file is missing stuff..how do I fix this
msrexe.exe is a virus, Just remove it from the load=msrexe.exe from win.ini, Also, make sure to check to see that there is no vrus*.exe file anywhere on your harddisk.
I accidentaly removed or deleted the ocraware.exe in my win.ini files. Where can I find this file so I can reload it on my computer
