Windows For Workgroups 3.11 Networking

I have a lan set up using TCP IP with Windows 2000 Pro as the server and Windows for Workgroups 3.11 as a client. Both machines can ping each other. The Windows 2000 machine can see the shared files on the WFW 3.11 machine but every time I try to connect to the Windows 2000 through file manager on the WFW 3.11 machine it says access denied. I can't figure out why they both cannot see each other. I hope someone out there can help
